The Thursday Night Men's Topic Meeting is an official Al-Anon group serving Dayton Oh and it's surrounding areas. The group is registered with the World Service Office (WSO) under group number 30532707, and we are listed on the Miami Valley Information Service directory of meetings. Our meeting group is in Ohio Area district 57.
The topics and venue of this meeting are geared toward supporting men seeking a safe place to share their experiences, strengths and hopes as they work the 12 Steps. However, this group is also open to ALL friends and families of alcoholics, regardless of gender or orientation. We have had, in fact, women attend this meeting to listen to men's perspective.
This group is classified as a "closed meeting" which simply means that we ask that you please only attend this meeting if you are (or have been) effected by someone else's drinking.
By the way, there is no membership to Al-Anon. No dues nor fees. There is no registration to attend this meeting. You don't even have to share your full name during introductions. Your anonymity is protected at all times.
We are self supporting, and are not sponsored by any church or institution. We accept donations to help us cover the cost of renting our room and funding our ZOOM service subscription for online meetings. Donations are not required to attend this meeting. If you wish to contribute, a basket is passed around the room during the Thursday night in-person meeting where participants often put in a couple of dollars.
